What is Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas are mistakenly destroyed by the body’s immune system.Its causes are not fully known, and there is currently no cure. People with T1D are dependent on injected or pumped insulin to survive. In the United States, approximately 1.9 million children and adults live with Type 1 Diabetes, and each year sees about 40,000 new diagnoses. This disease predominantly develops in youth but can also occur in adults.

Our Personal Connection
When we say Type 1 Diabetes is personal, we mean it. Our co-founder, Nick, is a parent to two children, Parker and Evie, living with Type 1 Diabetes. Diagnosed at ages 2 and 4 respectively, their journey has been a challenging one, marked by constant vigilance in monitoring blood sugar levels. This journey expanded when Rebecca joined our family as an amazing bonus mom. Managing Type 1 Diabetes has left us with countless sleepless nights, canceled plans and lots of tears. It's this personal experience that drives our brand ethos at Palmr Lifestyle, centered around relaxation because we need it. To all of the parents out there with TID children, we understand you. To all of the individuals with T1D, we are here to support you and want to make some awesome clothes for you and raise money to find that cure!
