Turn inland off 98 and the Panhandle stops being a postcard. It is longleaf for the better part of an hour, dark and close and quiet, and this is that green rather than the water everybody photographs. White raised silicone numbers on a structured rope front, built to be in the woods as easily as on the sand.
What makes it special. The 850 holds the largest national forest in Florida and almost nobody puts it on a hat. Green is for the half of the Panhandle that does not get sold.
Who wears it
For the drive as much as the destination. 30A in October, Apalachicola when you want it quiet, and the long green stretch in between. Pair it with a men's button-up.
Care
Spot clean with cool water and a mild detergent. Reshape and air dry. Do not machine wash, do not put in the dryer. The structured panel holds its shape over years of wear with normal care.
Palmr Hats
| Fit | Hat size | Inches | Centimetres |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 7 1/4 – 7 3/4 | 23" – 24.5" | 58 – 62 cm |
| Small Fit | 6 5/8 – 7 1/8 | 21" – 22.5" | 53 – 57 cm |
How to measure. Run a soft tape around your head just above the ears and across the middle of your forehead, where the hat actually sits. Keep it snug, not tight.
Standard suits most adults. Small Fit suits smaller heads, many women, and older kids roughly 7 to 12. Head size varies, so the tape beats the label.
